SOUND SPACE DOWNTOWN

Sound Space Downtown is an open audio and sound archive. It is a work in progress and a space of listening which is open for contributions and collaboration. It derives from the methodologies of artistic research as pedagogy and collective finding by the residents of Downtown and students of CARIMAC/University of the West Indies during the Radio Sonar residency in the Summer of 2014.

Sound Space Downtown, the design of which incorporates a working sound booth, has been utilised most recently to record and archive three audio projects for the 2015 JAMARTIS summer programme and as a space to record the stories of bereaved family members of children killed through violence, as part ofStudio 174's ongoing mural project at the Secret Garden memorial.
